Master Herveus d’Ormonde recently digitized this nineteenth-century book based on a sixteenth-century manuscript showing the arms of Scottish nobility.
This is the second edition, published in 1878, of a book first published in 1822 under the title Facsimile of an Ancient Heraldic Manuscript Emblazoned by Sir David Lyndsay of the Mount. Lyon King of Arms. 1542.
It contains modern engravings based on the hand-drawn original document which was titled Register of Arms of the Scottish Nobility and Gentry.
Scans of the 1822 edition and the 1878 edition are available from archive.org; this new copy is substantially identical in content but has clearer printing than the 1822 edition and a more attractive color balance than the previous scan of the 1878 edition.
Non-blank pages were photographed and combined into a PDF document, available in both medium-quality (44 MB PDF) and full-quality (287 MB PDF) versions.
My thanks to Master Herveus for sharing this resource with the community.
