Projects

While some of the posts on this site stand alone, many of them are related to one of several ongoing projects or interests.

The Book of Traceable Heraldic Art
I have built The Book of Traceable Heraldic Art into a leading source of armorial clip art for use by heralds and scribes in the SCA and kindred historical reenactment groups.

Researching the History of the Armorial Database
I’ve talked at length with four different people who have spearheaded the SCA’s armorial database effort at different times, and dug up written records that give us a glimpse at this system’s incremental development.

Downloading Armorials
I’ve extracted a number of public-domain resources from proprietary hosting services and transferred them to the Internet Archive for greater accessibility.

Heraldic Education
I’ve taught classes online and in-person, and published articles, checklists, and illustrated guides for educational and reference use by non-heralds as well as new and intermediate heralds.

Enhancing the CoA Website
I’m working on a series of improvements that could be made to the heraldry.sca.org website so that it’s more useful to heralds and the populace.
